"I nearly called Barbara Knox 'Rita'!"

I found this article on the Coronation Street Blog which talks about Faye's recent interview with Inside Soap Magazine.

There's a good interview in this week's Inside Soap magazine with Faye Brookes, who plays newcomer Kate Connor.

She talks about Kate being a hot-headed character and we know that she's engaged to a soldier called Caz.  Kate and Sophie will soon meet on the show but the fact that the two women are lesbians doesn't mean that romance will be in the offing between them both.

Faye says: "Kate and Sophie don't see eye to eye at the beginning. That's great for me and Brooke Vincent, who plays Sophie, because it gives us loads to work with. I have a lot of fun scenes coming up with Sally as well. Sally thinks that since Kate is the boss' sister, she can cosy up to her to get ahead. But the plan just ends with Kate finding her really annoying."

Faye says Kate could well turn into a mini-Carla as she's just as brash and cut-throat.

Being a newcomer on set means that Faye's had to get used to everyone's names. "I walked into the green room one day and nearly called Barbara Knox 'Rita'.  I've got to remember not to do that. Barbara is a national treasure and queen bee at Coronation Street. Her dressing room is right opposite mine."

I'm pretty sure Corrie's resident lesbian Sophie - played by the brilliant Brooke Vincent - will be involved in storylines with Kate and her Fiance to be Caz.

That has the potential to be one of the hottest love triangles ever seen on TV.

Make sure you follow Coronation Street Blog and pick up a copy of Inside Soap Magazine for the full interview with Faye.
